Mixplate Monday 2.28.11

Happy Monday! Can’t believe it’s the last day of February — Time is going by so fast! I don’t have a ton on the schedule for the week, so hopefully I’ll have time for a few workouts and a few books :) But, before any of that, this week’s edition of Mixplate Monday.

Last Week’s Highlights

  • Played the usual Mixplate Monday
  • Attended a “think tank” retreat for work; I hope the future of my company is looking bright
  • Watched people cross the street, ha! (My cousin needed help with a project, observing crosswalk behavior patterns)
  • Had Korean bbq. Twice.
  • Got a pedicure. And a manicure. And a massage. And got my eyebrows waxed!
  • Had dinner, wine and dessert with my best gals — Joelle, Pono and Dana.

Weekend Happenings

  • Ugh, did NOT get any kulolo at the Kamehameha ho’olaule’a :(
  • Shared some of my favourite links of the week
  • Made just about everyone in my life listen to Maisey Rika — Seriously, you guys, she’s amazing. She’s from Aotearoa, but she’s performing at The Venue in HI nest month! Girls night out!
  • Attended a service at New Hope, and was really affected by it. I haven’t been a really good Christian lately and, really, I don’t always know if I believe I am a Christian (just being honest). But for now I’m committed to doing more on my spiritual journey.
  • Had a few meals and a few beers with the fam; Happy belated birthday to me :)
  • Watched BJ Penn LICK Jon Fitch, ha! Nah, it was a good fight with a less-than-great outcome (majority draw).
  • Went to a meeting with my hula sisters; Getting so excited for California (especially Disneyland) in the fall!
  • Watched the Oscars (and made my picks)

On the Agenda

  • A reunion with the girls from my old days at Billabong!
  • A photo walk in my neighborhood
  • A few workouts with a buddy!

As of Today

  • Making: Pasta salad; A yummy snack for a few days this week
  • Saying: Goodbye to February and hello to March
  • Shopping: For a new computer, yay! And maybe a new camera. Maybe.

I wanna know, what were your recent highlights? And what are you up to?

Cheers!
Tiera

Link Lovin’ 2.26.11

My oh my, I’ve been noticeably MIA from the interwebs this week :( I’ve been so busy with work and some personal stuff that I just never found my groove this week. But I still wanted to share some of my favorite links! A day late, but worth checking out nonetheless.

Pretty, pretty castles; Makes me even more anxious to hurry up and get to London!

If Katrina isn’t giving away free resources, she’s telling us where to get ‘em.

Kara’s advice on what to blog about.

What do you do when you log on to Facebook?

I’m a sucka for blog memes and challenges, and I’m thinking about jumping on board with 30 Days of Lists.

Kelsey’s so inspiring in the goals she set for herself. I really need to get back on track!

I have been straight swooning over this The Notebook-inspired engagement photo shoot.

This Chicken Oscar recipe looks delish. (Semi-related: The Filet Oskar is my fave thing on the menu at Mortons!)

I loved getting a peek into a day in the life of Miss James through her daily photo diary.

These portraits by Julia Margaret Cameron are amazing.

My bloggy twin, Jen, received the Stylish Blogger Award, and is passing on the love to moi <3

Kendi's date night outfit is adorable.

Love this little peek into Elsie’s projects.

Katrina has some fun links to share as well.

Aside from being the missionary that baptized me (and for that, he’ll always have a special place in my heart), Jordan Rose is an AMAZING drummer! See for yourself :)

I’m really loving “Get It Right”, one of the new original songs from Glee. (The other song, “Loser Like Me”, is posted on my Tumblr).

I wanna know, what’s rocking your corner of the interwebs this week?

Xoxo,
Tiera

Mixplate Monday 2.21.11

Gah! I didn’t notice that this post never published :( But better late than never!

Happy President’s Day Monday! I thought I’d be running the Great Aloha Run today but, alas, I’m working all day (and kinda grateful because, honestly, I am NOT ready for 8+ miles haha!). But while I’m off at a “think tank”, here’s a look at my life as of late!

Last Week’s Highlights

Weekend Happenings

  • Turned 24, yikes! And had the sweetest bday lunch with my 14 year-old brother, who treated <3
  • Caught up with letter-writing to my pen pals, and phone calls to family
  • Celebrated with my cousin Tiffy, who’s expecting a baby boy next month!
  • Helped her start unpacking all her gifts from the shower; But she still has a LONG way to go, the girl got a zillion gifts!
  • Went to Rumours to support my extended family at a baseball fundraiser
  • Ended the night with a few more shenanigans at the Mai Tai Bar

On the Agenda

  • Trying to figure out a regular workout schedule
  • Getting back to reading daily and meditating regularly
  • Making my Oscar picks
  • Finding (making?) something to wear for a vintage Hawaiian party I have coming up
  • Dinner with two of my best friends at Banana Leaf :)

As of Today

  • Brainstorming: Yep, I’m at an all-day company retreat/think tank session in Waikiki today
  • Helping: My cousin, Tiari, with a school project by monitoring sidewalk crossing habits; Interesting stuff!
  • Waiting: To hear back on a few work-related subjects

I wanna know, what were your recent highlights? And what are you up to?

Cheers!

Happy Friday! It’s been a pretty hectic week with tons of work to do and my mom heading out for Vegas– And my cousin Tiffy’s baby shower is this weekend, so that’s what I’ll be up to! But before the weekend officially begins (at 3:31 p.m.) here are some of my favorite links as of late :)

Like everything from Framed, this mustard chicken salad looks delish.

I’m loving Gabi’s casual outfit, especially that coral blazer. More coral in this one, too.

Punk Projects is gonna be hosting an online craft class, Boldly Going, that will feature 20 geeky/nerdy DIY projects.

Drew Barrymore’s underwater spread from May 2009′s Elle is stunning.

Pantone’s fall 2011 color report is here, and me likey; I’m feeling very inspired.

Valentine wishes from Gala Darling to the radical self love warriors: May today be the day…

I may not love chocolate, but I can almost always go for homemade fudge.

Pretty inspired by how Kyla makes her own mentors.

Avocados and pudding and cake, oh my!

Lauren shared her photo editing process. I usually use Picnik to edit my photos as well (though I also have Photoshop Elements, the “lite” version of Photoshop, that I use occasionally), so I’ll be trying some of her tips. Srsly, though, spring for the Premium version of Picnik. Also, Cross Process is one of my favorite features, and I’ve been using it a ton lately!

Feeling so inspired by these quotes.

Regular mail (I really hate the term “snail mail”) is making a come back, and Kyla’s post is a reminder that I’ve got to write to a few of my pen pals.

I love when local boys do amazing things.

Katrina is just relentless with the freebie awesomeness.

These photo recreations are so amazing.

Love thy body. Haha!

Look at all of this colorful fashion.

Did you know that it’s my birthday tomorrow? Yup, I’ll be the big 2-4. One of my blog buddies is celebrating her birthday tomorrow, too! Visit Jen and wish her a happy birthday, will ya?!

I wanna know, what’s rocking your corner of the interwebs this week?

Xoxo,
Tiera
