Missing Meditation // Meditation Journal
It’s now been over two weeks since I last set aside time for meditation and, though this might be all conjecture, I think I’m starting to feel the effects!
Despite being on a pretty good roll of meditating at least twice a week for a few weeks, I didn’t meditate at all on vacation or since I’ve been back :(
Aside from the pure joy of my trip, I’ve been more stressed and indecisive, and my mind’s been way more erratic and all over the place! It’s true that I’ve been extra busy at work and have had a lot going on personally (nothing bad, though!), but I think I can attribute some of this to my lack of meditation lately.
Needless to say, I’ll be setting aside some time to meditate on Saturday morning, when I can get some peace and quiet :)
I wanna know // Do you meditate? // How’s your life different when you’re missing something?
Namaste,
Tiera
California, Disneyland & the Best of Friends
After a month of super top secret planning, my friend Pono and I set out for the city of Orange to visit Joelle (my BFF) & Jayson (BFF’s BF)! Jayson lives in California for school and Joelle’s living there for the summer, and over the long weekend for 4th of July I was in Cali, too!
I got talked out of bringing my camera to Disneyland (we had a hardcore tour guide and had no time for pictures, haha!), but I managed to sneak in a few iPhone photos :)
Here are some of the highlights:
- Pono Girl and I not sleeping at all on the redeye flight
- Almost getting scammed by a knock-off Disney shuttle (and being saved by another lady from Hawai’i!0
- Surprising Joelle at iHop
- Wrapping up my toe to get my foot into tennis shoes
- Picking up our park hopper tickets
- Disneyland & California Adventure!
- California Screamin’, Dumbo the Flying Elephant (pictures only, lol!), Indiana Jones Adventure
- Matterhorn Bobsleds, Mickey’s Fun Wheel (definitely not recommended, lol!)
- Pirates of the Caribbean (with Captain Jack Sparrow), Soarin’ Over California (pretty awesome)
- Space Mountain (longest line of the day), The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (twice)
- Silver sequined Mickey ears and Joelle’s birthday dinner at Naples Ristorante e Pizzeria (where almost every staff person had an Italian accent!)
- World of Color (So, so good, but the Fastpass situation needs some work)
- Guy talk (Jayson + I + MMA + the Joe Rogan Podcast)
- Pono leaving at the crack of dawn the next morning :(
- Relaxing poolside and in the pool (something haoles don’t seem to do haha!)
- Omiyage and two buck chuck at Trader Joe’s
- UFC 132 at The Gaslamp in Long Beach with Ivan & Brian
- Continuing the night with shuffleboard, beers & the jukebox at Michael’s in Huntington Beach
- Outlet Christmas shopping at The Citadel in L.A.
- L.A. Italian Kitchen and Transformers 3 at The Block with Ivan
- Jayson & I testing a million options at the badass soda machine, a la Ari Shaffir
- Finally trying Five Guys Burgers. Legit.
- Stealing a Lakers box (in exchange for stocking their shelves for free) from CVS
- Poolside/jacuzzi adventures with our new drunk friends (Cousins? Haha!)
- Sushi and Scallops at King’s Fish House (Crazy good)
- 360 degrees of fireworks on the parking lot roof
- Packing up (sad face)
- Waiting nervously in the airport line (my last name is legally hyphenated, on my ticket it was not. In HI my last name can skate by, but I wasn’t too sure about CA!)
- First class back to Honolulu
Is that enough awesomeness for you? It was for me!
Love you J&J, thanks for opening your home so graciously :) Can’t wait to see you both soon!
// I wanna know // What was the last vacation you took? // What’s your favorite theme park?

Mixplate Monday 7.11.11
Sheezus, have I been MIA lately! After my surprise vacation (Disneyland! But more on that later), I headed back into a large pile of work, and haven’t found my groove again quite yet :) Looking forward to getting back to normal, though!

While not huge, my mom has a great yard. There are a few plants, a lovely avocado tree, and lots of room for H&H to run around and for the humans to BBQ :)
In the spirit of taking more photos this summer, I took a lap around the yard with my camera.
I wanna know, what’s growing in your yard? What have you photographed lately?
Cheers,
Tiera
Hello & Goodbye: Jun-Jul
If all goes according to plan, I’ll either be on my way or arriving at a top secret location for a special surprise something-or-other… Ah, I can’t wait until I can just be out with it! But while I’m dealing with TSA, here’s a look back at June, and a look forward to July :)
What a month it’s been:
- Spent lots of time with family
- Said goodbye to my cousin Maka, who died from his injuries in a stupid, senseless, alcohol-fueled fight
- Ended my self-imposed ban on soda :( Pepsi just tastes so good!
- Took a few brick photos for Kelsey’s photo link up
- Downloaded a few new iPhone apps, including some for H&H
- Participated in Gussy’s Inspiration Workshop, kitchen edition
- Tried to reorganize my blogging life using Google docs and calendar
- Created my June soundtrack
- Bought and read a few books
- Tried a new vendor at the farmers market
- Rented quite a few DVDs from Redbox
- Reviewed my new daily moisturizer
- Spent some time with my grandma before she headed back to LV
- Meditated without religion
- Skyped with my BFF, who’s in CA for the summer
- Made a to-do list for the summer
- Hung out with my nephews and their mamas for a few hours
- Took some photos at the Makiki Community Gardens
- Did well with home breakfast and lunch and hardly ate out at all :)
- Whined about my nolympics situation next year
- Had a week or so of baby/house/dog sitting-at my mom’s while everyone else was in Vegas
- Photographed Hua, who’s quite the contradiction
- Got Fresh Catch with my coworkers. Delicious.
- Photographed Hinano, who was exhausted after a long afternoon in the yard
- Some major QT with H&H
- Asked: How do you tweet?
- Went out to dinner with pops for Father’s Day
- Shared some of what I’ve been cooking lately
- Endured late hours and lots of stress at the office
- Made a list of my simple pleasures
- Ate ridiculous amounts of fish, raw and cooked (but mostly raw)
- Sang along with my favorite movie soundtracks
- Finally attached the mountain of laundry that’s been growing in my room!
- Jumped back on the Tumblr bandwagon
- Started but didn’t finish reorganizing my makeup. It’s a verrry daunting task.
- And, as usual, played Mixtape Monday and shared a little Link Lovin’ <3
I’m looking forward to:
- The special surprise, of course :)
- The 4th of July holiday
- The BFF’s birthday
- Things cooling off, just a little, at work; June was insane!

I wanna know, what kind of month did you have in June? What are you looking forward to in July?
Cheers!
