A Month Without Red Meat
At the beginning of November, I decided to go a month without red meat. Well, now that month is over!
So how did it go? It actually went pretty well. Aside from Thanksgiving, there wasn’t really a time I craved red meat, and I made and ate some new chicken and fish dishes that I will definitely have again (like that Ahi plate from Grylt above). The only thing I wish I had done differently, though, was measure my cholesterol at the beginning and end of the month to track the effect.
But I wasn’t entirely successful, there were three “incidents” lol!
- I got my usual chicken salad at my usual salad place and got almost all the way through it when I realized there were bits of bacon in it.
- I went out to lunch with some friends and shared an appetizer that had bacon crumbles. It looked so delicious I gave in and ate it. And ordered a second plate.
- I had a few pieces of ham on Thanksgiving.
So far in December I’ve had red meat twice. I had Vienna sausage with breakfast yesterday and a spam musubi at lunch on Friday. Other than that I’ve still be sticking to chicken, turkey and fish, and will probably continue that way for the most part. Especially since I’m playing “The Biggest Loser” with my family starting tomorrow!
I wanna know, what have you challenged yourself to do lately? What are you doing to eat healthier?
Bon appetit,
Tiera
Links To Love 12.3.11
It’s been a helluva week, so I haven’t been around much in the last few days. I’ve amassed quite a few links to share in the mean time, so enjoy!
- Ricky Gervais explains the difference between American and British humour.
- Super easy and super cute DIY chevron wrapping paper.
- What type of kisser are you? And what typed of kissers have you kissed? Lolz!
- Ooohh, top 10 British shows you should be watching. I’d add The Office, An Idiot Abroad, Whites and Spy.
- I’m absolutely addicted to making smoothies with frozen acai, and I’m always experimenting with new ingredients and recipes. Here’s a fun one I’m going to try.
- What Kristine learned in her first year of blogging.
- In case you need a reminder, you are beautiful.
- Loving these hyper-minimalist children’s story posters.
- 23 things you learn from a breakup made me laugh. And cry.
- I’m excited for Lindsay’s Aisle to Aloha meetup in a few weeks!
- The best-selling DLSR lenses via DPS readers. #1 is on my wishlist and #2 is on its way!
- Like Gaga’s “Edge of Glory”? Listen to this version and read the back story. You’ll like it more than you did before.
- Snacks and shit (and other ridiculous rap lyrics) is the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time!
- Inception meets the “that was easy” button.
- Darren Rowse is one of my favorite people. I’ve been a fan of ProBlogger for several years now, and have perused one of his other sites, Digital Photography School, from time to time. But now that I’m a proud first-time DSLR owner, I’ve been spending a lot of time on DPS, especially reading through their tips for digital photography beginners.
- Move over, meatheads. It’s time for a fantasy boy band league!
- Wow, wow, wow.
I wanna know // What’s rocking your corner of the interwebs? Got any links to share?
Xoxo,
Tiera
