So I was gifted a giant heart-shaped box of Snickers (one of the few chocolate things I actually like) this morning, and it’s made this whole Valentine’s Day thing a little less tragic ;)
So I decided to celebrate (a little) this ridiculous “holiday” with a lovely and very aptly-named song.

Day Off
I really wish I had the day off in real life as well, ’cause I’m feeling really bleh today.
I had (more than) a few drinks last night at my friend Matt’s going away party — But more than that my sense of smell is really off (and that’s really weird!), my stomach is in all sorts of knots, and I’m SO tired :( But I’ve got work all day today, and then a basketball game for my little brother later this evening. Ugh, I was really hoping to go home after work and sleep until tomorrow morning!
So surprise, surprise, Link Lovin’ this week will be a little late this week. Probably not until sometime tomorrow afternoon.

So it’s been 2011 for about a day-and-a-half now, and if I could spend time this year doing exactly what I’ve done so far (sleeping in, shooting Nerf guns with the little boys in the fam, vegging out on the internet, watching Netflix and UFC, listening to podcasts, and eating my mom’s cooking) I’ll be a happy little camper ;)
No, really though… 2010 was a mixed year. Lots of awesome stuff and lots of not-so-awesome stuff. And as we move in to 2011, I’m trying to reflect on 2010 objectively and plan for the year ahead. We’ll see how all of this turns out!
So here’s to 2011! If nothing else, my year got off to an amazing start with family, food and fireworks. And this flurry of text messages <3

Happy turkey day, everyone! It’s been a bit of a rough week, and Thanksgiving’s usually like that for me :( But my good friend Daniel reminded me that there’s so much to be thankful for, and there really is.
I’m especially thankful for my family, near and far, and my friends, old, new, and those I’ve never met beyond the interwebs ;)

Fall Break
Did you know that students get a fall break nowadays? What the?!
Well, guess what? I’ve decided to take one, too :) Aside from checking into with you all a Happy Thanksgiving, I’m having myself a little blog vacation. I’ll still be around on Twitter, and I’m still going to be reading some of my favorite bloggies, so I haven’t decided whether or not I’ll put together a Link Lovin’ post. But mostly I’ll be taking some time off from Side Culture for the week.
Anyhow, I hope you make some time in the next few days to celebrate Thanksgiving with your family and friends, get ready for the holidays (I’ll be working on my Christmas gifts!), tend to some personal and professional projects and, most importantly, taking some time to relax and enjoy the season.
