Christmas Bounty

Christmas time always reminds me just how loving and generous my family and friends are, and just how fortunate I am. And, you guys, I was SO blessed this year.

I saw this fun holiday favourites survey and, being in the holiday spirit, I had to play along :)
, Egg nog or hot chocolate? Egg nog, seeing as how I hate chocolate and all.
, Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? The elves wrap, Santa delivers. If you’re talking about my mother, well, she does it all :)
, Colored or white lights on the tree/house? My family goes the colored route. When I do my own tree, I’ll probably go all white. So chic.
, Do you hang mistletoe? Nope, never have.
, When do you put up your decorations? Usually Thanksgiving weekend.
, What is your favorite holiday dish? This is more Thanksgiving than Christmas, but pumpkin crunch.
, Favorite holiday memory as a child? My dad proposed to my mom on Christmas day <3 And one year we gave my Papa Sam his dream motorcycle for Christmas. That was pretty amazeballs.
, When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I’m not even sure anymore! I’d guess it was probably on tv, or maybe from my friends at school.
, Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? We used to celebrate Christmas with my mom’s side of the family on Christmas Eve, and we’d open all our gifts to/from each other! But now that our family’s spread out we don’t get together like that anymore, and I open all my gifts on Christmas morning.
, How do you decorate your Christmas tree? Colorful lights and our family ornaments. My mom even has this horrific ornament I made in school in third grade — It has my picture on it, that my teacher took, when I was missing my front teeth!
, Snow! Love it or dread it? La-la-love it. But I’m sure if I actually lived in a place that showed and had to deal with it, I might feel different.
, Can you ice skate? Barely; I’m so awful. I like to sue those little kid walkers at Ice Palace haha! I blame it on my flat feet; those ice skates hurt.
, Do you remember your favorite gift? The year my parents got me my first laptop, an iBook was pretty sweet! I also remember them getting my my first ukulele :)
, What’s the most important thing about the holidays for you? Family. And food.
, What is your favorite holiday dessert. The aforementioned pumpkin crunch.
, What is your favorite holiday tradition? Hmm, I don’t think I really have one. Things are kind of different around here every holiday season. One thing we’ve taken to doing every Christmas day is visiting the grave sites of our family members who have passed on. We clean up their headstones, spend some time with them, and leave flowers before we leave.
, What tops your tree? A gold star. And it’s sparkly and glittery so of course I love it to pieces!
, Which do you prefer, giving or receiving? Not gonna lie, receiving is awesome — but I absolutely love giving. Everything from brainstorming gift ideas to shopping and wrapping them, and then giving them to special people and watching them open the gifts <3
, Cande canes: Yum or yuck? Yum! The classic peppermint ones are great, but I really love the fruity ones from Jolly Rancher and Starburst :)
, Favorite Christmas show? Ooohh, a tough one. Bad Santa, A Charlie Brown christmas, Elf, Fred Claus, Home Alone, Home Alone 2, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Polar Express — Yeah, I love all of those.
, Saddest Christmas song? Merry Christmas Darling; The Carpenters’ version.
, Favorite Christmas song? O Holy Night x Willie K. You can see some of my other favorite Christmas songs.
