Mixplate Monday 11.28.11
Ugh, I guess I totally forgot to hit “publish” for today’s MM. But better late than never, right? So here’s this week’s night-time edition of Mixplate Monday :)
Last Week’s Highlights
- Received some Christmas gifts I’d ordered online
- Played the usual Mixplate Monday
- Tried Grylt at Manoa Marketplace for the first time. Their food was delicious and healthy (I think). Then won a Twitter contest and another meal there!
- Voted for Pentatonix to win The Sing-Off
- Had “theme week” with my coworker, Niki, where we dressed up and had lunch according to the theme :) Taco Tuesday, Under The Sea and Thanksgiving Leftovers. Yes, we’re dorks.
- Grabbed a few things for the house along with groceries for the Thanksgiving dishes I made (green bean casserole and pumpkin cheesecake).
- Found some not-so-average Christmas cards
- Wished everyone a Happy Thanksgiving & spent mine with good food/times with my family :)
- Saw The Muppets and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1. More on those later.
- Joined Chime.In and Beansight. Come be my friend if you’re on either or both sites!
Weekend Happenings
- Thanksgiving leftovers
- UH football vs. Tulane; The Warriors face BYU this weekend, but Tulane was the last pay-per-view game of the season and my final game working this season. I can have a beer and cheer at the next game!
- Got absolutely hooked on DigitalRevTV; They’re my new favorite photography channel on YouTube
On the Agenda
- Waiting for my camera to arrive!
- Eating at Yuzu for the Nonstop Honolulu meet up
- Catching up on all the TV I missed this weekend while I spent hours and hours on YouTube, lol :)
- Watching the TUF finale! #teammayhem
As of Today
- Waiting (im)patiently for the UPS man to arrive with my camera
- Cheering for Pentatonix to win The Sing-Off!
- Trying to decide what to cook for the rest of the week so I can stop eating out

Anyhow // Another Sunday night, another Monday morning without enough sleep. Aiya! I’m about to enter the busiest week ever at work, and it’s already been all drama for at least a week — Needless to say I wish I could’ve stayed in bed this morning. Instead, here I am, with this week’s installment of MM.

- Played the usual Mixplate Monday
- Spent a few afternoons studying at working at Barnes & Noble. I’m becoming one of those people.
- Put together a Soundtrack playlist
- Got the title to my car! That’s a few years of bills behind me :)
- Reviewed Immortals, which I saw the previous weekend
- Only had one poke bowl. Blasphemous!
- Daydreamed
- Shopped at Ben Franklin with Niki; Got a tree skirt that will double as a Christmas dress for Hua

- UH football vs. Fresno State; Not a win, but a great game
- UFC 139; I cannot say enough about this card. Holy shit or amazeballs doesn’t even begin to describe it!
- At the last of my horseradish mustard chicken; Definitely gonna make it again

- Sorting out my QVC order for my new camera, it’s a mess
- Going on a photo walk; The weather outside was so crappy, I didn’t get to go last week
- Finding a turkey recipe to try for Thanksgiving

Mixplate Monday 11.14.11
I don’t know what it is about Sunday nights, but lately I’ve been feeling extra inspired to write or work. That’s not usually something to complain about, but I can’t get to sleep! I got about two hours of sleep this morning, so lemme tell you — Today’s gonna be rough.
Peruse this week’s MM, why don’t you, while I try to stay awake!
Last Week’s Highlights
- Spent a few afternoons reading on my Nook at B&N and finished The Hunger Games series!
- Listed 8 things I learned at etiquette camp, and plugged Tea at 1024′s tea & etiquette class.
- Lunched at one of my favorite places, that I hadn’t been in a while — Fresh Catch. Surprise, surprise, it’s a seafood place with poke :)
- Shared why I don’t wear makeup, at least not everyday.
- Braved the farmers market in the rain, thank goodness they created a covered seating area.
- Hit a few Project Love Note road blocks, but remained determined to go through them.
- Started making Black Friday plans.
- Joined Twelve By 2012 by making a list of 12 things I want to accomplish before the end of the year.
- Survived a crazy work week with tons of events, APEC, drama and shameless callers.
Weekend Happenings
- Dinner at Macaroni Grill with Joelle & Jayson, Tiari, and Bobert. Followed up with a quick lap around the mall and Immortals.
- Shared my most recent favorite links.
- Had a ridiculous Saturday where I spent no less than 8 hours at Hooters watching the UFC fights on Facebook, UFC on Fox, and the Manny Pacquiao fight. We had a major mixup on the times of the events and ended up staying there ALL day.
- Started working on the look of the site. I’m really liking it and I hope you are, too :) I’m doing it myself and I’m only partly sure what I’m doing haha!
On the Agenda
- Adjusting my Netflix plan to streaming only.
- Going on a photo walk.
- Continuing work on the blog.
As of Today
- Exhausted. The end of the work day cannot come soon enough!
- Eating leftover Carmela’s Chicken Rigatoni from Macaroni Grill. Delish.
- Trying not to drink soda, but I’m so tired I might need the caffeine!

Mixplate Monday 11.7.11
Having a happy Monday so far? I am :) Nothing spectacular going on, but I had a nice weekend and was less grouch than usual to get out of bed this morning haha! Before the rest of the day gets away from me, here’s this week’s installment of Mixplate Monday.
Last Week’s Highlights
- Played the usual Mixplate Monday
- Spent the better part of two days sick in bed
- Decided to give up red meat this month, and hopefully/probably/maybe longer
- Absolutely got hooked on New Girl :)
- Skipped out on the farmers market because of all the rain, and got a poke bowl and rented a DVD instead
- Shared the 16 albums I bought recently
Weekend Happenings
- UH football home game; So worked on prep in the morning, headed out in the early afternoon, worked the game, and home by midnight. Also, the rosemary chicken that was catered this weekend was delish.
- Didn’t get to watch the fights, but read all the updates about UFC 138. Bummed about Chris Leben #zombiemode
- Had my life taken over by The Hunger Games series. Good (and easy) reads for sure.
- Lunch and catching up with my cousin Khrystyne, who’s in town for a few months
- Broke my gold strappy flats. You know, the ones I wear every single day!
- Decided to pamper myself with a mani/pedi; I’ve been avoiding since I ripped my big toenail off
- Missed Boardwalk Empire and Dexter last night. I was too busy reading, lol!
On the Agenda
- Getting back on track with school; I’m behind to say the least
- Buying hangers. I’m very specific about which kind I like, and I’ve been looking for weeks!
- Being busy as shit at work.
- Trying either a Yogalates or Hatha Yoga class
- UFC on Fox 1
As of Today
- Feeling apprehensive. November is looking like an insane month, and I’m not ready for it all!
- Listening to the “Today’s Hits” station on Pandora; I feel like I’m so out of touch with what’s on the radio these days. You guys, there’s a lot of crap out there.
- Reading Mockingjay, the third book in The Hunger Games series. Hopefully I can finish it by tomorrow. I’m excited and sad for the end at the same time.

Mixplate Monday 10.31.11
Happy Halloween! I can’t wait to get off work, go home and dress Hua & Hinano in their kimonos :) My dogs actually kind of hate wearing clothes of any kind, but I hope they cooperate (they probably won’t). But before any of that, here’s a look at what’s been going on around here lately.
Last Week’s Highlights
- Played the usual Mixplate Monday
- Got my office addicted to Kuru Kuru Sushi
- Shared the rest of my California vacation photos; Check out parts 3 and 4
- Went to the Makiki Farmer’s Market with Bobert, and ate kalua chicken (delicious!)

- Watched UFC 137 with my family; Sad about BJ’s loss, even more sad about his retirement. Also, after watching the fight and about a million interviews and clips, I now have a strange fascination with Nick Diaz — and I’m very much looking forward to the GSP-Diaz fight.
- Watched the UFC Primetime special about Junior Dos Cantos and Cain Velasquez. I honestly thought they were fighting yesterday, and may have told that news to many, many people, haha. Whoops! PS: I’m taking Cigano in this fight.
- Joined Kelsey’s Netflix party; Watched Child’s Play for the first time in ages and The Lost Boys for the first time ever.
- Dinner with the fam while Uncle Pat was home for a fishing tournament and Uncle Alika had the day to spend with us
- Caught up on Dexter. Brother Sam, omg :(
On the Agenda
- Reading at least one book this week
- Ordering my 2011 planner
- Get cracking on my Christmas shopping & wrapping
- Taking a new class at the Y
As of Today
- Craving an acai smoothie; I didn’t get up early enough to make one this morning
- Eating chantilly cake; So not what I should be eating haha!
- Watching Boardwalk Empire; I hate that it’s on at the same time as Dexter, so I have to choose every Sunday!
