February Fitness Challenge Recap

I’m having mixed feelings about the fitness challenge I set for myself for February (which was to work out every day for the month). Part of me is bummed (I didn’t fulfill the challenge), part of me is laughing (I mean, what was I thinking?!), and part of me is motivated to get a little more serious this month.

I’m no Catholic, but I try to give up something for Lent every year as a personal challenge. Last year it was fast food. This year it’s soda. This might be the hardest challenge of all — I have a serious love affair with Pepsi :)

So I’ve decided kick my own ass with a little challenge this month. The February Fitness Challenge is to work out everyday for the month of February. (The fact that it is the shortest month of the year was not lost on me).

Ever since I read this post, I’ve been wanting to get specific and set a list of goals for the rest of the year. I’m constantly coming up with things I want to do, and then only getting through half of them, but these are the things I’m committed to doing in the next several weeks.
- Read five more books // I should’ve written up this list earlier because I read three books in the last week that don’t count now, lol!
- Workout 21 times // That’s three per week for each of the seven weeks left in the year.
- Post 50 new photos on Flickr // Photography is something I’m really learning to love, and this will help motivate me to not only take more photos, but take ones that are hopefully worth sharing. And speaking of cameras…
- Sell one of my cameras // Come Black Friday, I’ll have the DLSR I’ve been waiting for. That will bring my count up to a totally unnecessary 3. I’m planning on selling my superzoom, but keeping my pocket point and shoot.
- Write and deliver 300 cards for Project Love Note // I had a tough week trying to organize distribution of the cards, but I’m determined to meet my goal.
- Make a new dessert // I got lucky with successfully baking mini pumpkin cheesecakes, for the first time, for my mom’s birthday party, and sort of improvising the recipe. It’s got me motivated to try another something new.
- Reorganize my closet // I’ve been doing pretty good at getting rid of clothes, but I still have a ton (and a ton of other crap) that need a better system.
- Register for the spring semester // I need to stop taking breaks from school if I’m ever going to finish, lol!
- Hang out with my family // These days, I’m either at work or at home, but I need to spend more time with my family! My brother’s growing up too quick and my cousin just moved home from LA, so those are two places to start. Plus I’ve been wanting to take my parents out to lunch or dinner.
- Make bath salts // It’s something I love doing, especially experimenting with the ingredients and scents. I have some supplies that I haven’t touched in months, enough to make a few fun holiday gifts :)
- Plan my 2012 // I’ve been discussing moving to the mainland next year. While it’s something I would still absolutely love to do, opportunities here in HI keep popping up and I need to decide what I’m going to do!
- Work on the new Side Culture design // I’ve spruced things up around here lately, but I’ve already got something new in mind. I can’t wait to play around with it and put it up!
I wanna know, what are you doing with the rest of your year? What are you hoping to accomplish?
Cheers!

Weekly Goals 8.14.11
Last Week’s Goals: A grand total of 1.5/3 again this week. I wasn’t feeling very motivated, but maybe it’s just because I had a busy week with about a million things to do.
- [0.5] I think I had soda twice last week. No, three times. Meh, not bad, I guess. I usually have soda just about everyday, so I guess it’s an improvement — But I know I could have done better.
- [1.0] I actually worked out three times this week! Once at the gym and twice just running (okay, jogging — maybe walking, sometimes) around where I live
- [0.0] My poor H&H, mama didn’t get anything organized for them this week :( I need to get on it!
This Week’s Goals: And moving on to the week ahead…
- No soda; I didn’t succeed at this last week, so I’m giving it another go
- Clean & organize; My dresser full of makeup. Yeah, I said dresser. I’m hoping I can find a few unopened things to give away or save for the yard sale!
- Keep a food/workout journal; It’s important that I start tracking my eating and workout habits if I intend to get serious about getting healthy
I wanna know // How have you been “working on yourself” lately? Make any progress on personal goals?
Cheers!
Tiera
