On Debussy

On Monday I mentioned that I was listening to Debussy, and it’s been almost non-stop between me and good Claude ever since!

Debussy is my absolute favorite 20th century composer, and one of my faves of all time, really. His music, especially his piano pieces, have such a seamless blend of strong and romantic, reverberating bass and delicate melody; It’s quite magical. And I just have to share some of his beautiful fancy French music I’ve been listening to <3

Beau Soir: Is one of my favorite pieces of music. Ever. It’s simply beautiful. And you can definitely hear Debussy in this composition.

Arabesque No. 1: So playful, but romantic nonetheless. You need some
S E R I O U S skills to pull off this one.

Reverie: Again, so distinctly Debussy.

Valse Romantique: Have you every had music “speak” to you? I only ask because this piece definitely tells a story.

Reflets dans L’eau: I can hear the light reflecting off the water. This is a very visual piece to me.

Suite Bergamasque: Everbody knows Clair de Lune (at the very least you recognize it as familiar when you hear it) and it’s divine. But listen to the other three movements — the prelude in particular. They’re perfect together.

1. Prelude

2. Menuet

3. Clair de Lune

4. Passepied

I wanna know, do you like/listen to classical music? Who’s your favorite artist/composer?

Cheers,
Tiera
