Swooning: Canon Rebel T3i

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about upgrading to a DSLR. I’ve had great success with Canon cameras, and have only heard positive reviews, so I knew I wanted to stick within the Canon family.

My coworker’s BF got a 60D, which is totally swoon-worthy — But, realistically, I’m not at the photography level where I need to be spending that kind of money or need that kind of hardware.

Recently, though, I was browsing online and I came across this baby: the Canon EOS Rebel T3i. It’s pretty much my dream camera. It’s a full-functioning DSLR, but compact, and not something crazy (or crazy expensive) that I can’t figure out and make the most of.

Plus it has the vari-angle LCD screen (the swivel screen) that I have on my current camera (it’s also on the 60D), but wasn’t available on the last Rebel (T2i). And I don’t think I could live without it!

It’s got the rechargeable Canon battery (my current Canon takes AAs), and I’m not sure how I feel about it. I love that it’s reusable (though I could easily buy rechargeable AAs), but I’ve grown to appreciate the convenience of easily being able to run to a grocery/drug store, even a convenience store, to get batteries if mine run out. My tiny point-and-shoot has a rechargeable battery, though, and I can live with that.

At $899.99 (and it’s available for pre-order now), it’s still a major investment, but one I hope to be making. Soon!

And next on the wishlist: Wireless remote, tripod, and a super cute camera bag :)

I wanna know, what camera are you rocking right now? What’s your dream camera?

Xoxo,
Tiera

I’m a Nikon girl, so I can’t personally vouch for the Canon Rebel, but I hear it’s a great camera and many pro’s started off with it before they upgraded :) I have two at the moment: the Nikon D90 and the Nikon D700 – my dream camera :) I use the latter more often than not now. Whether you’re pro or not, it’s a great investment to get a DSLR, not to mention a fun hobby!

Two cameras? Lucky girl! But then again you are a professional :) Other than for Mad Hearts, do you still like carrying your DSLR around daily/regularly?

I want a rebel too! I have one in the office, so I’ve been playing with that one. Let me tell you, it’s the GREATEST thing in the world!

Gah, I know! I told myself that once I really took the time to learn more about photography and the cameras I have now, I’d allow myself to upgrade, lol! Maybe Merry Christmas to me?!

I know it’s been a little while since you wrote this post, but did you ever get round to getting the T3i? I’ve still got the (pretty-old-now) T1i, and that’s fab, so I’m sure the T3i would be even more awesome. I just did a post on my blog featuring great photos shot with it, if you’re interested at all.
