As most everyone is probably well aware, I have a total obsession with England (and to some extent, the entire United Kingdom). So, once a month, I thought I’d share my love for all things British in a new feature: UK Tuesday. Let’s get it started!
One of the most obvious symbols of the British Empire is the Union Jack (it’s modern version, according to Wikipedia, having been in use since the early 1800s. It’s stunning in its simplicity and almost-symmetry.
Plus it holds an extra special place in my heart, because the image is featured on another flag that holds meaning for me, the state flag of Hawaii — Which honors the assistance the British provided to the Hawaiian monarchy and our eight major islands.
And lately, the Union Jack has been everywhere! Take a look at this Chanel bag, these Alexander McQueen ankle boots, these Henry Road pillows, and this Jill and Jon dining table (they make coffee tables too!). You can even DIY a Union Jack on your nails!
Srsly, I love the image. It represents the coming together of nations, and it’s so iconic and beautiful :)

I think the UK is awesome! Okay, bloggie twin, I know this sounds creepy and I’m trying not to be….I kinda am obsessed with the UK, too. Come on, snogging, lifts, and cheers….yups, I love how they talk and what they say. Also, I love their tv shows…Top Gear, Ab Fab, Skins…oh don’t get me started on their movies. LOL. Okay, I swear…I’m not trying to be twin-weird here.

haha i live in london, and i love it. The union jack has been incorporated into almost everything you can possible imagine. I actually don’t know any nutters who have worn the union jack out with pride…but i will say that it looks spiffy in home decor items (: xo

Jen: Are we like long lost sisters or what?! Top Gear is so good! Have you seen The Office? I’m totally obsessed with it. I really love Doctor Who too! And idk if you got my tweet the other day, but I can’t do the GAR anymore… I have an all-day work retreat on Monday now :( To be honest, though, I’m a little bit relieved cause I’m totally not ready haha! Let’s train for next year!
Adele: I’m so jealous! I’ll be visiting your home city for the summer Olympics next year and I’m SO excited! So I guess wearing a Union Jack t-shirt everyday would be a dead giveaway that I’m a total tourist, huh?!
