What’s in My (Retired) Bag

Even though parking in Waikiki was tough, lunch was expensive, and tourists were often sometimes less-than-pleasant, I loved my time working at Billabong. Aside from the lifelong friends I made and the spending money I had through high school, one of the best parts of working there was the generous discount :)

And that’s where (and how) I got this girl, my Von Zipper leather shoulder bag (one of my faves!). She was hiding in storage for a while, but I brought her out again recently, and have been rocking her everyday for months!

Sadly, though, she’s dying on me. There’s major wear and tear, especially on the straps, and every time I wear it I get stuck with little pieces of leather (or leatherette?) that flake off onto my arms and clothes.

So I decided it’s time to retire her… But before she’s gone for good, let’s take a peek inside :) (I love seeing these posts on other blogs, and this seems like the perfect time to share my take!).

  • Wallet (Lulu)
  • Nail polish (Dark Angel Nail Lacquer by MAC)
  • Journal (Greenroom)
  • Pens (G2s; I have to carry all three to color-coordinate my planner, lol!)
  • Makeup bag (MAC)
  • Sunglasses (Crush)
  • Sunglasses case (Von Zipper)
  • Prescription glasses (Sam’s Club!)
  • Book (Eat, Pray Love; by Elizabeth Gilbert)
  • Planner (Marukai)
  • Camera (Sony); Case (Swiss Army)
  • Misc: Ricola cough drops (I’m totally addicted, and not even coughing anymore!); Letter from Seattle, from my recently-married friend Tia; Invitation to Hi’i's baby luau (my hula sister’s daughter is so adorable!); Bobby pins (I always have these everywhere, and, quite frankly, am surprised I only found four in my purse!), and iPhone earphones (I always keep them around so I can listen to podcasts while I drive; My iPhone was plugged into the charger at the time!)

I wanna know, what bag are you rocking? And what’s inside?!

Xoxo,
Tiera

PS: Another one of my favorite things about my time at Billabong is meeting the team. Andy Iron straight rips, and he was such a rad guy. Hearing of his passing earlier this week brought back fond memories of the Billabong ohana. My condolences to his friends and family, especially his wife (who is hapai with their first child) and his hot-sauce brother, Bruce (too soon?). RIP AI!

I hate carrying a bag except when traveling! When I do, its usually. My iphone (duh) beats, wallet with money (only when i travel!), camera (my cannon), bottle of water, a scarf (usually black), ipad, a usb wall charger and my sunglasses.

You travel light girl! I’ve downgraded a little from my giant schoolbag days, but I still carry a bunch of stuff with me :) I’m always bouncing between work, home, mom’s house, picking up my little brother, going out… I think I just feel the need to be prepared, lol!

Oooh, I love Ricola. And it has to come in that square size. I recently bought the one that are shaped like an oval and I don’t know, it doesn’t taste the same. Crazy, I know.

I think I’m going to do what’s in my purse post. Maybe tomorrow.
